Baseball Game Preview: Rio Hondo Bobcats vs. Progreso Red Ants

Rio Hondo has gone 9-1 against Progreso recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Bobcats will welcome the Red Ants at 5:00 p.m. Rio Hondo is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.

While Rio Hondo's win against Santa Rosa wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bobcats had just enough and edged out the Warriors 6-5 on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Bobcats in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won nine in a row.

Adrian Betancourt looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ruben Castellanos, who scored a run while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Sandoval, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Rio Hondo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They are a perfect 13-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Progreso was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 17-3 to Lyford.

Rio Hondo's win bumped their record up to 15-10. As for Progreso, their loss dropped their record down to 12-8.

Everything went Rio Hondo's way against Progreso in their previous matchup two weeks ago, as Rio Hondo made off with a 19-2 victory. Do the Bobcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Red Ants turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
