Basketball Recap: Larry Roybal's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Questa over Mesa Vista

Questa was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against the Mesa Vista Trojans, falling 74-48. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 129th, while the Trojans are ranked 31st).

Questa's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Larry Roybal, who posted ten points and eight rebounds. Juan Cisneros was another key player, putting up six points and 12 boards.

Even though they lost, Questa smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in eight consecutive matchups.

Questa's loss dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Mesa Vista, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.

Questa wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 70-47 defeat against Escalante on the 4th. As for Mesa Vista, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 68-46 victory against Penasco on the 1st.
