Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for La Serna

While La Serna put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Cerritos. The Lancers were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over the Dons. The win was familiar territory for the Lancers, who have now won three matchups in a row.

Ava Jimenez tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

On the hitting side, La Serna let Aubrie Baruch and Hailey Ramirez run wild. Baruch went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI, while Ramirez went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was Baruch's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Paulina Ortega, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

La Serna always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cerritos only posted an OBP of .125.

La Serna's record is now 11-13. As for Cerritos, they moved to 11-6 with that loss, which also ended their nine-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, La Serna is taking a road trip to face off against Long Beach Poly at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Jackrabbits' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Lancers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Cerritos, they will welcome Artesia at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Dons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pioneers have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season.
