Softball Recap: South Mountain Jaguars vs. Cesar Chavez Champions
South Mountain was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They lost 27-8 to the Cesar Chavez Champions. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Champions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-1 last Tuesday.
Alonnah Nodora made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Sarah Guzman, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
South Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Cesar Chavez, their win ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-12.
Coming up, South Mountain will take on Washington at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The Rams have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.18 runs per game on average), something the Jaguars will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Cesar Chavez, they will venture away from home to take on Browne at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Bruins will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Champions surely won't give up without a fight.
