Oxford Prep put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's fourth consecutive shutout on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Crossroads Christian Colts a 7-0 shutout. The Griffins might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by seven runs or more this season.

The result came thanks to Tanner Abbott's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up 13 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Drew West, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. Hunter Woodlief was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

Oxford Prep pushed their record up to 9-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Crossroads Christian, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oxford Prep will square off against Falls Lake at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Griffins' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Firebirds have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season. As for Crossroads Christian, they will face off against Pungo Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
