Baseball Recap: Novato Now 5-1 over Last Six Games

Novato came out on top against Branson on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fourth inning. The Hornets took their match against the Bulls 7-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-2 on Tuesday.

Griffin Vorhaus spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Julian Oliver, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

Novato has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Branson, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Novato will host Pinole Valley at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Branson, they will welcome The Bay School at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
