Basketball Recap: Marana Comes Up Short

After flying high against Amphitheater last Thursday, Marana came back down to earth. The Marana Tigers fell 65-58 to the Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Nighthawks: they've now lost four in a row.

Ironwood Ridge was led to victory by Carter Brown and Lucas Anderson. Brown posted 21 points and seven boards, while Anderson earned 18 points and seven rebounds. Brown's evening made it 12 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyler Holthaus, who put up six points and five rebounds.

Marana's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Ironwood Ridge, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season.

Marana wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 66-41 win against Mountain View on the 16th. As for Ironwood Ridge, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 68-41 victory against Flowing Wells on the 17th.
