Baseball Game Preview: Fort Atkinson Blackhawks vs. Lake Mills L-Cats

The Fort Atkinson Blackhawks will square off against the Lake Mills L-Cats at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Fort Atkinson has given up an average of 7.2 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Fort Atkinson fell victim to Watertown and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They came up short against the Goslings, falling 14-0. The match marked the first time this year in which the Blackhawks were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Lake Mills got themselves on the board against Poynette on Thursday, but Poynette never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Pumas with a sharp 10-0 victory. The L-Cats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by ten runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Ty Schaefer, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Max Stelter was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Lake Mills was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2024.

The win made it two in a row for Lake Mills and bumps their season record up to 8-2. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Fort Atkinson, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.
