Basketball Game Preview: Patrick County Cougars vs. North Stokes Vikings

Patrick County and North Stokes are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2019, but not for long. The Patrick County Cougars will be playing at home against the North Stokes Vikings at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Patrick County saw some tournament action on Saturday. They were outmatched by Liberty and fell 64-30. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 255th, while the Minutemen are ranked 53rd).

Meanwhile, North Stokes' undefeated season came to an end after ten games on Friday. They took a 57-40 bruising from Surry Central. The loss was just more heartbreak for the Vikings who fell 54-52 when the teams previously met back in December of 2022.

Having lost for the first time this season, North Stokes fell to 10-1. As for Patrick County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
