Basketball Recap: Kelliher/Northome Picks Up Ninth Consecutive Victory

Kelliher/Northome came tearing into Friday's contest with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 60.5 points), and they left with even more momentum. They claimed a resounding 100-29 victory over the Clearbrook-Gonvick Bears. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 16 matches by 34 points or more this season.

Leading Kelliher/Northome to victory were Kylee Binkley and Kate Thayer. Binkley dropped a double-double with 39 points and ten rebounds, while Thayer dropped a triple-double with 24 points, 13 boards, and 13 steals. The game was Thayer's 25th in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Allison Lundin, who went 7-for-13 to rack up 16 points in addition to six assists and six rebounds.

Kelliher/Northome's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 95.4 points over those games. As for Clearbrook-Gonvick, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-15.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kelliher/Northome will venture away from home to face off against Polk County West [Climax/Fisher] at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Clearbrook-Gonvick, they will head out to square off against Pine River-Backus at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
