Baseball Recap: Make It Eight in a Row for Troy

Troy lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Kendrick, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's match. The Trojans put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 13-3 victory on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won eight contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Payton Christensen was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out 14 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Those 14 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Dominic Holden was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Troy is 9-1 when Holden posts two or more runs, but 4-6 otherwise. Makhi Durrett was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

The win (which was Troy's eighth in a row) raised their record to 13-7. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Kendrick, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-4.

Troy didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 1-0 loss against Potlatch on the 3rd. As for Kendrick, they have also already played their next match, an 11-3 defeat against Clearwater Valley on the 3rd.
