Baseball Game Preview: Central Catholic Buttons vs. TMI-Episcopal Panthers

For the second straight game, Central Catholic will face off against TMI-Episcopal. The Buttons will square off against the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Central Catholic is coming into the match hot, having won their last ten games.

Central Catholic is headed into the contest having just posted their closest win since March 19th on Tuesday. They skirted past TMI-Episcopal 3-1.

For TMI-Episcopal's part, Ankith Padala was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he tossed 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Padala has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

Padala wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Trent Spivey, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Central Catholic's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-5-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for TMI-Episcopal, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10.
