Recap: Calvert Hall Cardinals vs. McDonogh Eagles
The Calvert Hall Cardinals were the 27-24 winner over the McDonogh Eagles when they last played one another back in October of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Calvert Hall took a serious blow against McDonogh on Friday, falling 42-14. It was the first time this season that Calvert Hall let down their fans at home.
Nick Humpf threw for 56 yards and a touchdown. Aiden O'connell was his top target, picking up 58 receiving yards. On the ground, Jae?oyn Williams threw for 46 yards on three of seven attempts.
McDonogh found their leader in underclassman Braeden Palazzo, who threw for 223 yards and four touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Jefferson Exinor jr, who picked up 72 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Calvert Hall has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for McDonogh, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Calvert Hall will take on Pallotti at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Pallotti is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. As for McDonogh, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Gilman at 2:00 p.m. Gilman will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while McDonogh is ranked eighth).
