Baseball Recap: Herndon Hornets vs. Washington-Liberty Generals
After flying high against Langley last Thursday, Herndon came back down to earth. The Herndon Hornets fell 9-6 to the Washington-Liberty Generals on Monday. Herndon was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Washington-Liberty apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April.
For Washington-Liberty's part, Alex Frymoyer made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Frymoyer was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Sean Guffey was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, a triple, and a stolen base. Another player making a difference was Sam Jackman, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.
Herndon's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-10. As for Washington-Liberty, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-12.
