Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lafayette). They put the hurt on the Ruskin Golden Eagles with a sharp 13-2 victory on Thursday. The Fighting Irish have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Golden Eagles, too.

The team relied heavily on Logan Beedle, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Wyatt Proffit was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Lafayette's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-12. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Ruskin, they are on a 29-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-15.

Lafayette and Ruskin could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings. The Fighting Irish (ranked 342nd) will meet Mexico (ranked 121st) at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Ruskin will challenge Grain Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank disadvantage (453 vs. 128).
