Basketball Recap: Mesa Takes a Loss

Mesa suffered their biggest defeat since December 10, 2024 on Friday. They lost 71-46 to the Sunnyslope Vikings. The Jackrabbits were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-13.

Despite the loss, Mesa saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jakyi Miles posted 23 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds. Brig Bowden was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 14 points and nine boards.

Mesa's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Sunnyslope, they pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season.

Mesa has already played their next contest, a 73-64 victory against Basha on the 9th. As for Sunnyslope, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 79-45 win against O'Connor on the 9th.
