Basketball Recap: Pioneer Continues Road Dominance on Friday

Pioneer won the last time they faced McAllen Memorial and things went their way on Friday too. The Pioneer Diamondbacks snuck past the McAllen Memorial Mustangs with a 51-45 victory. Winning may never get old, but the Diamondbacks sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Leading Pioneer to victory were Ebonie Chatman and Anika Fleischmann. Chatman dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten boards, while Fleischmann dropped a double-double on 12 points and 17 boards. Those 17 rebounds gave Fleischmann a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Natalia Gonzalez, who posted 14 points.

Pioneer's win was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-9. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.2 points per game. As for McAllen Memorial, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 18-7.

Pioneer will take on McAllen in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. McAllen Memorial and Vela will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
