Basketball Game Preview: Gowanda Panthers vs. Panama Panthers

The Gowanda Panthers just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Panama Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Gowanda took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They managed a 67-62 win over Portville.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Panama). They breezed by Brocton to the tune of 97-60 on Monday. Winning may never get old, but the Panthers sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Gowanda better keep an eye on Carter Brink. He was instrumental in Panama's win, putting up 30 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Brink's evening made it 11 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Andrew Spiesman was another key player, posting 14 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Panama pushed their record up to 12-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.3 points per game. As for Gowanda, their win bumped their record up to 5-6.

Gowanda was dealt a bruising 91-46 loss at the hands of Panama in their previous matchup back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Brink, who posted 34 points in addition to five assists and three steals.
