The Brazosport Christian Eagles will challenge HCYA at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Brazosport Christian will be strutting in after a victory while HCYA will be coming in after a loss.
Brazosport Christian will bounce into Thursday's match after beating Baytown Christian, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Eagles put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 11-1 win on Tuesday. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

David Kier made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Brazosport Christian is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-8 otherwise. Kier was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kane Knighton, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. Aiden Rodriguez was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
Brazosport Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .607. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, HCYA was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of Northside Falcons HomeSchool.
Tyde Tracy was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Tyler Welch also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
HCYA's loss dropped their record down to 13-12. As for Brazosport Christian, their win bumped their record up to 5-9.
Brazosport Christian's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's contest. The Eagles have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.5 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for HCYA, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Brazosport Christian continue to outrun the ball?
Brazosport Christian might still be hurting after the 17-1 defeat they got from HCYA when the teams last played back in March. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
