After a string of five wins, South Sumter's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They lost 11-2 to the Hernando Leopards. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Raiders have suffered since March 14, 2024.

South Sumter saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyson Lake, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI. Ismael Rodriguez was another, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

South Sumter's defeat dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Hernando, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-2.

Coming up, South Sumter will head out to challenge South Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (South Lake has won four straight at home, while South Sumter won seven straight on the road dating back to last season), something that'll have to change. As for Hernando, they will welcome Crystal River at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
