Baseball Recap: Johnsburg Sets Scoring Season-High Against Harvard

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Johnsburg). They were the clear victors by a 24-3 margin over the Harvard Hornets on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Skyhawks in their matchups with the Hornets: they've now won four in a row.

Evan Pohl made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Pohl was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Ahston Stern was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Riley Johnson also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Johnsburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .681. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Johnsburg pushed their record up to 18-7 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Harvard, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 13 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-16 record this season.

Johnsburg will have a chance to go back-to-back against Harvard: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:33 p.m. on Wednesday.
