No. 1 Mater Dei improves to 5-0 after dominant 55-16 win over Orange Lutheran.
No. 13 Corner Canyon (Draper) was one win away from breaking Duchesne's Utah state record of 48 consecutive wins but Lone Peak (Highland) had other ideas. The Knights beat the Chargers 41-16 and dominated the time of possession as they snapped Corner Canyon's 48-game winning streak. They outrushed the Chargers 277-25.
No. 8 Servite (Anaheim) improved to 7-0 on Thursday against a very good Santa Margarita (Rancho Santa Margarita) squad with a 48-21 win. The Friars have outscored their first seven opponents 346-90 and haven't trailed at any point this season. The Friars face JSerra Catholic (San Juan Capistrano) next week before matchups against No. 1 Mater Dei (Santa Ana) and No. 5 St. John Bosco (Bellflower) to close out the regular season.
The Monarchs improved to 5-0 after beating Orange Lutheran (Orange) 55-16. Mater Dei takes on Santa Margarita on Oct. 15 at Santa Ana Stadium next week before a huge matchup against the Friars on Oct. 23.
No. 3 Westlake (Austin) cruised to a 35-0 shutout win over Bowie (Austin) but it came at a cost as five-star quarterback
Cade Klubnik left in the first half with a shoulder injury. The back-to-back state champs have won 30 games in a row and have outscored their first six opponents 301-54 this season.
Nicco Marchiol and No. 17 Hamilton (Chandler) added another good win to its resume with a 35-32 victory over Chaparral (Scottsdale). Marchiol finished the night with four total touchdowns giving him 22 on the season.
No. 21 Bixby had the most impressive win of any team in the MaxPreps Top 25 with a 70-7 win over Choctaw. The Spartans increased their win streak to 42 and have scored at least 69 points in four of six games this season.
