Basketball Recap: Pine Forest Eagles vs. Arnold Marlins
With a playoff game on the line, the Pine Forest Eagles rose to the challenge on Monday. They blew past the Marlins 62-26 on the road. With Pine Forest ahead 49-8 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Pine Forest's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Niylia Wilkins, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. Wilkins is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aniya Jackson, who scored 17 points along with six assists and four steals.
The win makes it two in a row for Pine Forest and bumps their season record up to 11-7. As for Arnold, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-17 record this season.
Pine Forest is on the road again on Wednesday and plays the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on February 7th. Booker T. Washington is coming into the match hot, having won their last eight games. Arnold does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
