Softball Recap: Owosso Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Owosso entered their tilt with New Lothrop on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Hornets a 5-0 shutout. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Trojans also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2025.

Not much got past Hailie Caswell, who gave up just two hits and racked up 13 Ks to keep New Lothrop off the board. Caswell has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ady Freeman, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Audri Hrncharik was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Owosso's record now sits at 11-5. As for New Lothrop, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-4.

Owosso and New Lothrop should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings. The Trojans will square off against Swartz Creek at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (99 vs. 365). Meanwhile, New Lothrop (ranked 155th) will meet Byron (ranked 380th) at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
