Softball Recap: Montrose Has No Trouble Against Blue Ridge

Montrose made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Blue Ridge, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Meteors were the clear victors by a 21-3 margin over the Raiders on Friday. The match marked the Meteors' most dominant victory of the season.

Jocelyn Traver was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over 4.1 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Montrose let Cara Evans and MycKenna Kublo run wild. Evans scored three runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances, while Kublo went 4-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Kublo is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Krisalyn Welch, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Montrose was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .364 or higher in three consecutive contests.

The win got Montrose back to even at 3-3. As for Blue Ridge, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.
