Softball Recap: Thomas Sumter Academy's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Calhoun Academy, Thomas Sumter Academy was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Lee Academy Cavaliers 11-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Generals have posted since April 29, 2024.

The team relied heavily on Anna Luzzi, who fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lila Kate Stines, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Thomas Sumter Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .538. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in four consecutive games.

With the victory, Thomas Sumter Academy broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-5. As for Lee Academy, they dropped their record down to 1-6 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Thomas Sumter Academy will be playing at home against Orangeburg Prep at 5:30 p.m. on the 1st. As for Lee Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 13-3 loss against Marlboro Academy on the 25th.
