Volleyball Game Preview: Cookeville Cavaliers vs. Smyrna Bulldogs

Cookeville is a perfect 7-0 against Smyrna since September of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Cavaliers will be playing at home against the Bulldogs at 2:00 p.m.

Smyrna is facing Cookeville at the wrong time: Cookeville suffered their first home loss of the season on Tuesday and they're likely out for redemption. They fell just short of the Stars by a score of 3-2.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Cookeville sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 24-26, 26-16, 22-25, 15-12.

Defeat or not, Cookeville got some senior leadership from Ella Hardin and Chloe Sexton. Hardin had 13 digs and three aces, while Sexton had 21 digs and two aces. Those 21 digs set a new season-high mark for Sexton.

Meanwhile, Smyrna waltzed into their match on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Wildcats. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bulldogs have posted since September 4th.

The win got Smyrna back to even at 13-13. As for Cookeville, their loss dropped their record down to 20-11.

Cookeville took their victory against Smyrna in their previous matchup back in September by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Cavaliers repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
