Basketball Game Preview: Horse Creek Academy Stallions vs. Calhoun County Saints

The Horse Creek Academy Stallions will head out on the road to take on the Calhoun County Saints at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Horse Creek Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six contests.

Last Friday, Horse Creek Academy didn't have quite enough to beat Hunter-Kinard-Tyler and fell 62-59. That's two games in a row now that the Stallions have lost by exactly three points.

Despite the loss, Horse Creek Academy saw an underclassman step up: freshman RJ Patrick posted 20 points. Aidan Walls was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Meanwhile, Calhoun County played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 83-57 to North. The Saints haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.

Horse Creek Academy will have to keep a close watch on A'Darion Sumter and Jayden Wallace, a pair of players who had a big impact on Calhoun County's prior game. Sumter put up 19 points, while Wallace earned 17 points. The dominant performance gave Sumter a new career-high in points.

Horse Creek Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season. As for Calhoun County, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-7.

Horse Creek Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Calhoun County in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 70-64 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Horse Creek Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
