Basketball Game Preview: Poquoson Islanders vs. Jamestown Eagles

Poquoson hasn't had much luck against Jamestown recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Poquoson Islanders will challenge the Jamestown Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Poquoson is headed into Wednesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their ninth straight game on Friday. They took a blow against New Kent, falling 94-39. While losing is never fun, the Islanders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 358th, while the Trojans are ranked 23rd).

Meanwhile, Jamestown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. The game between them and New Kent didn't end well, with Jamestown falling 88-71. One positive for the Eagles, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Poquoson's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Jamestown, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.

Poquoson didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Jamestown in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 54-49 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Poquoson since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
