Basketball Recap: Brooke Holmes Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Christ Church Episcopal

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Dorman, Chapin was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Christ Church Episcopal Cavaliers by a score of 49-40. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 79th, while the Cavaliers are ranked 209th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Chapin's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brooke Holmes, who went 9 for 22 on her way to 18 points and seven rebounds. That's the most points Holmes has posted since back in December of 2023. Sami Stephenson was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on ten points and nine boards.

Chapin smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 14 consecutive games.

Christ Church Episcopal lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Caroline Johnson, who posted 12 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Saddler Fox, who had nine points and five rebounds.

The victory got Chapin back to even at 8-8. As for Christ Church Episcopal, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Chapin wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 69-26 defeat against Dutch Fork on the 9th. As for Christ Church Episcopal, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 59-19 loss against St. Joseph's Catholic on the 9th.
