Autauga Academy proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by 15) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Pike County Bulldogs 8-6. The win was familiar territory for the Generals, who have now won nine contests in a row.

Jacaiya Perry made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Destinee Carroll, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

Autauga Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 8.8.

Autauga Academy's record is now 14-6. As for Pike County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 13 of their last 15 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-17 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Autauga Academy will square off against Montgomery Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in the Generals' favor as the team sits on seven straight wins at home while the Eagles have been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road. As for Pike County, they will take on Straughn at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
