Preview: Lackey Chargers vs. La Plata Warriors
The Lackey Chargers's road trip will continue as they head out to face the La Plata Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on January 19th. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Lackey's 20-4 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They were dealt a 68-28 loss at the hands of North Point last Wednesday. While losing is never fun, Lackey can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while North Point is ranked 50th).
La Plata suffered their biggest defeat since December 15, 2023 on Wednesday. They took a serious blow against Leonardtown, falling 54-15. La Plata has not had much luck with Leonardtown recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Aniyah Sisco was La Plata's leading scorer, having posted six points.
Lackey has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. As for La Plata, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 4-8.
Everything came up roses for Lackey against La Plata in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 69-17 victory. Will Lackey repeat their success, or does La Plata have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
