Softball Recap: Trimble Takes a Loss

If Trimble was riding high fresh off their 19-2 takedown of Federal Hocking on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Tomcats lost 15-2 to the Southern Tornadoes on Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for the Tomcats in their meetings with the Tornadoes: they've now lost eight in a row.

Trimble saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Charlie Shafer, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Alyvia Portier also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Trimble's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Southern, their win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Trimble will welcome Huntington at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. The Huntsmen have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.15 runs per game on average), something the Tomcats will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Southern, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against South Point at 12:00 p.m.
