Basketball Game Preview: Edinburg North Cougars vs. IDEA College Prep Griffins

The Edinburg North Cougars will take on the IDEA College Prep Griffins at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday. Edinburg North is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.3 points per game this season.

Edinburg North is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing San Perlita: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Edinburg North blew San Perlita out of the water with a 94-57 final score. The Cougars pushed the score to 81-45 by the end of the third, a deficit the Trojans had no chance of recovering from.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Edinburg North to victory, but perhaps none more so than Raul Palacios, who went 7 of 8from beyond the arc on his way to 39 points. The match was Palacios' eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Cruz, who went 8 for 12 on his way to 20 points in addition to seven assists and four steals.

Meanwhile, IDEA College Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 15th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 36-27 hit to the loss column at the hands of IDEA Edinburg College Prep.

IDEA College Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Edinburg North, their win bumped their record up to 10-7.
