Softball Recap: Friday's Win Is Elko's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

Elko proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 15) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Boise Brave 10-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Indians have posted since February 28th.

Taylor Hunton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up four earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits. Hunton was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Angelina Jackson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Elizabeth Romero was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Elko has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-5 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 11 hits in those games compared to only 5.4 in the others. Boise's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

Coming up, Elko will host Twin Falls at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Twin Falls will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last. As for Boise, they will square off against Moscow at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
