Softball Recap: Tranquillity Tigers vs. Avenal Buccaneers

Tranquillity extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 36 on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-20 in the process. They came up short against the Avenal Buccaneers, falling 19-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Buccaneers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-0 back in April.

As for Avenal, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 18-6-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 matches by eight runs or more this season.

For Avenal's part, Emma Morales was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Morales has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 1-for-2 with six stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those six stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Layla Lopez was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those five stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauryn Lucero, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with six stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
