Basketball Recap: Wilmington Comes Up Short

Wilmington lost against Manteno back in February, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Wilmington Wildcats took a hard 57-38 fall against the Manteno Panthers. The loss was the Wildcats' first of the season.

When it comes to explaining why Wilmington lost, don't look at Ryan Nelson. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. Nelson is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last six games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Rink, who posted eight points and three steals.

Having lost for the first time this season, Wilmington fell to 2-1. As for Manteno, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-4.

Wilmington and Momence will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest having both just played. As for Manteno, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Iroquois West at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
