Baseball Game Preview: Centennial Coyotes vs. Willow Canyon Wildcats

For the second straight game, Centennial will face off against Willow Canyon. The Coyotes will welcome the Wildcats at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Centennial's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Willow Canyon's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Centennial is returning to their home field after beating Willow Canyon on theirs, despite the fact Willow Canyon has dominated at home this season. The Coyotes put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 15-2 victory on Tuesday. Considering the Coyotes have won 13 games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Cohen Baack made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on David Daniels, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Liu Rodriguez Jr, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Centennial is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Willow Canyon, their loss dropped their record down to 18-7.
