Northview is a perfect 5-0 against South Putnam since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. They took a 37-26 hit to the loss column at the hands of Terre Haute South Vigo. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Knights, who until this game were averaging 10.67 points allowed.
Loss or not, Northview got some senior leadership from Avery Perry and Colton Bath. Perry picked up 136 receiving yards and three touchdowns, while Bath threw for 169 yards and three TDs.
Even if they lost, Northview's defensive line still kept up the pressure with 5.5 sacks. In that department, Tristan Mackey was the leader with two.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South Putnam). They breezed past West Vigo to the tune of 69-13 on Friday. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Northview better focus on containing Ty Benton and Drew Cline as the pair were huge in South Putnam's win. Benton rushed for 186 yards and a pair of scores on only eight carries, while Cline threw for 191 yards and three TDs while completing 87.5% of his passes. Benton's longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards. Brody Burdge made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Having lost for the first time this season, Northview fell to 5-1. As for South Putnam, their win bumped their record up to an identical 5-1.
