Volleyball Recap: St. Monica's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

St. Monica waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Oakwood Owls 3-0. For the Mariners, this counts as revenge for the 3-1 victory the Owls walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

St. Monica was especially dominant in the second set. The final score came out to 25-18, 25-11, 25-18.

Garrett Robertson paced St. Monica's offense, picking up 11 kills. Robertson got some help from Sam Zimmermann and his 21 assists. Zimmermann also made an impact serving: he shared the team lead in aces with Austin Keough, racking up two apiece.

St. Monica pushed their record up to 18-13-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Oakwood, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Monica will welcome St. Genevieve at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Oakwood, they will host AGBU at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
