Baseball Recap: Booker Tornadoes vs. Gulf Coast H HEAT

After low-scoring totals in their previous four contests, Booker brought some dynamite into their most recent match. They blew past the Gulf Coast H HEAT 17-5 on Thursday. The Tornadoes not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since February 18th.

Kennedy Cole was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Booker is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-7 otherwise. Cole was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-2. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Booker got a massive performance out of Joshua Azevedo, who scored four runs and stole four bases while going 1-for-3. Those four runs gave Azevedo a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Dameer Watford, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Booker always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gulf Coast H only posted an OBP of .333.

Booker's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-8. As for Gulf Coast H, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.

Looking ahead, Booker will venture away from home to square off against Bayshore at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Gulf Coast H, they will host Oasis Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
