Baseball Recap: Rome Free Academy Black Knights vs. Proctor Raiders
Rome Free Academy extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 4-7 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Proctor Raiders. If the Black Knights were looking for revenge after losing 12-4 to the Raiders when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
As for Proctor, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games.
For Proctor's part, DOMINICK NIEVES looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. NIEVES has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Proctor let ANTHONY MARINO and RADHAMES EMANIEL run wild. MARINO went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while EMANIEL went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. Those two hits gave MARINO a new career-high. George Garrett was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Rome Free Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Proctor, they will face off against Vernon-Verona-Sherrill at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
