Basketball Game Preview: Coronado Dons vs. Glendale Cardinals

Coronado is 3-0 against Glendale since March of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Coronado Dons will take on the Glendale Cardinals at 5:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, Coronado earned a 41-30 victory over Tempe.

It was another big night for Kailyn Holsey, who almost dropped a triple-double on 13 points, nine boards, and ten steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed four or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aundrea Rodriguez, who posted 11 points along with seven boards and six steals.

Coronado smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 32 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Glendale). They enjoyed a cozy 56-37 win over La Joya Community on Monday. The victory was familiar territory for the Cardinals who have now won four contests in a row.

Glendale has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. As for Coronado, their win bumped their record up to 7-8.

Coronado came out on top in a nail-biter against Glendale in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, sneaking past 27-24. Will Coronado repeat their success, or does Glendale have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
