Basketball Recap: Morrill Comes Up Short

Morrill entered their matchup against Mitchell on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Morrill Lions fell just short of the Mitchell Tigers by a score of 49-46. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Morrill still got an impressive performance from Katelyn Walker, who went 13 for 25 on her way to 33 points in addition to five rebounds and four blocks. That was a full 71.7% of Morrill's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Allison Ott, who put up three points and seven rebounds.

Morrill's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-3. As for Mitchell, they now also have a winning record of 4-3.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Morrill Lions challenge the Niobrara County Tigers at 3:00 p.m. on January 3rd. As for Mitchell, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 65-25 victory against Wallace on the 31st.
