Everything went Mount Carmel's way against Montoursville as Mount Carmel made off with a 41-17 win. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the RED TORNADOES considering their seven-point performance the contest before.
Mount Carmel found their leader in underclassman Jaylen Delaney, who picked up 182 receiving yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Those six passing touchdowns set a new season-high mark for Davis. Brenden Fisher was in the mix as well, providing Hughesville with two touchdowns.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Hughesville was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 200 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2023.
Mount Carmel's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Hughesville, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Friday's matchup will pit two of the most dominant wideouts against one another: Delaney and Knight. Delaney has put up some stellar numbers this year, and currently owns excellent season averages 122 receiving yards per game this season. For his part, Knight has averaged 110.2 receiving yards per game this season.
Everything came up roses for Mount Carmel against Hughesville in their previous matchup back in October of 2023, as the team secured a 54-14 win. In that match, Mount Carmel amassed a halftime lead of 28-7, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
