Football Recap: Provine Takes a Loss

Provine extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to eight on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-3. They were dealt a 49-0 defeat at the hands of the McComb Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 167th, while the Tigers are ranked 33rd).

ZACKERY KNIGHT threw for 41 yards on four of six attempts. CHARLES YATES was his top target, picking up 37 receiving yards. On the ground, JAKYRON LASTER rushed for 27 yards.

As for McComb, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0. Fans of they have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

McComb got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Broderick Peters out in front who picked up 87 receiving yards and a pair of scores. The team also got some help courtesy of Sammy Badon, who rushed for 67 yards and one TD.

Provine wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 21-2 victory against Jim Hill on the 19th. As for McComb, they have also already played their next contest, an 18-16 win against Brookhaven on the 19th.
