Top 20 most dominant Iowa high school football programs of last decade

Propelled by eight state titles starting in the past decade, Dowling Cartholic (West Des Moines) is the most dominant high school football team from Iowa over the last decade.

Based on MaxPreps methodology, the Maroons accumulated 390 points, outpacing Regina, which amassed 267 points from play over 2010 to 2019. In addition to the state titles, Dowling Catholic also finished No. 1 in the state five times and No. 2 twice.

Regina won five state crowns but it also finished 14-0 in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 to pick up additional points.

Our methodology includes:
• Top 25 finishes in the MaxPreps state computer rankings (25 points awarded to the No. 1 team, 24 for No. 2 and so on).
• Top 25 finishes in the MaxPreps national computer rankings (50 points for No. 1, 49 for No. 2 and so on).
• State championships (20 points).
• State championship game appearances (10 points).
