Basketball Game Preview: Bishop Moore Hornets vs. Palm Bay Pirates

Two dominant guards in Jaiden Peterson and Jaida Civil are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Bishop Moore Hornets will challenge the Palm Bay Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Bishop Moore sitting on five straight victories and Palm Bay on 12.

Bishop Moore is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They blew past Mulberry 71-20. The Hornets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 21 points or more this season.

Bishop Moore relied on the efforts of Peterson, who went 7-for-8 to rack up 14 points in addition to six assists and five boards, and Alex Wolsonovich, who went 6-for-12 en route to 17 points and three steals. The contest was Wolsonovich's third in a row with at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Aaliyah Figueroa, who posted eight points and seven rebounds.

Bishop Moore smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Palm Bay took their game on Tuesday with ease, bagging an 89-24 win over Lake Region. The Pirates are also no stranger to big wins: their blowout was the 16th contest they've won by 20+ points this season.

Palm Bay's record now sits at 22-7. As for Bishop Moore, the victory got them back to even at 13-13.

Bishop Moore lost to Palm Bay on the road by a decisive 67-49 margin in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can Bishop Moore avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
