Game recap: La Mirada High School Football Team wins against Mayfair

LA MIRADA, Calif. - La Mirada (Calif.) extended its winning streak to six games with a 28-10 victory over Mayfair (Lakewood, Calif.) on Saturday.

The Matadores were up 21-10 at the half after taking the lead on a passing touchdown in the first quarter.

La Mirada expanded its lead to 18 points entering the fourth quarter. LM's lone score in the quarter came on a touchdown catch by Austin Watkins.

Aaron Minor played well for the Monsoons. The senior wide receiver ran for one touchdown. His performance brought his touchdown total to seven on the year.

The Matadores' standout player in the win was Adam Carrasco. The junior running back ran for one touchdown. He has now scored 10 touchdowns on the season.



Mayfair's lone touchdown came on a 1-yard run by Minor in the second quarter.

Led by Tyler Luatua, La Mirada came in allowing an average of 20.3 points per game this season. The defense really stepped up, holding MHS well below its season average of 20.6 points scored per game.

When the two teams played each other last season, the Matadores came away with a 44-14 victory.
