Basketball Game Preview: Randolph-Henry Statesmen vs. Nottoway Cougars

The Randolph-Henry Statesmen will square off against the Nottoway Cougars at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Randolph-Henry is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game back in December of 2024. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 60-57 heartbreaker at the hands of Buckingham. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game back in December of 2024 (55), the Statesmen still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Nottoway). They secured a 69-65 W over Colonial Heights on Wednesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Cougars as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Nottoway's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-6. As for Randolph-Henry, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.

Randolph-Henry came up short against Nottoway in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 47-41. Can Randolph-Henry avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
